Mission framing

The life is not a rehearsal – that is my favourite phrase and ars poetica. There is no second chance or probe stop and start again from the third paragraph. If you start it, finish it and do it with all your heart and soul. I want to implement this philosophy here in the brewery.

Our guiding principle is modern tradition: following the noble tradition through the craft circumstances, from purchasing raw materials, cross the brewing processes till the bottling. We let the beer in the tank for enough time, bottle it unfiltered, and make bottle fermented - so called living beer, uniquely on the Hungarian market. We use high-tech methods, create unique recipes and follow the latest trends with the help of an exceptional brew master.

The Technology

We continuously experiment with new ingredients, flavours and recipes – that is how we give our craft beer passion to the beer lovers. We believe that making good beer needs good ingredients. Already alchemists had known that – not surprisingly - gold is needed for producing gold. We think so. Our gold is a superb quality malt, the best ingredient for ales and lagers. We use this for our beers, what we spice with the finest hops.

We make the wort from the malt in the brew house with three brewing kettles. First kettle is the mash tun for mashing the malt, for lautering and for sparging. Second tun is the hop boiler where hop-mixture is added to the wort in the required quantity and quality. Hop preserves and spice the beer. The third tun is the whirlpool for the clean hopped wort. After cooling the hopped wort and adding the yeast, the beer is fermented in modern coat cooling tanks where the temperature and tank pressure is under control. After maturation the finished beer is filled into bottles and kegs.

The Story

Founders of Etyeki Sörmanufaktúra after their food engineer studies met first the Belgian beer culture during their scholarship in Belgium. Then they had been infected with the high quality and unique beers world. After moving home, they had planned that they will open their own brewery based on their knowledge and experience accumulated during many years of working in Hungary and abroad in the FMCG sector.

The Place

Etyek is the vineyards of Budapest. Since the Roman Empire grapes have been grown in this region. Our little village hides among the rolling vineyards and locates only 20 km from Budapest. From the door of the brewhouse we can see the domed tower of the Boti Chapel in Romanian times, while behind us the officers' quarters of the old Soviet barracks hide among the trees. We are surrounded by the memory of the bright and darker days of our history and culture.

The Design

Good beer needs to be good looking too! The inspiration was a homemade printing set bought at a flea market in Vienna, which contained unique figures and antique graphics, which was a great fit for the "modern tradition" concept formulated by the owners. Thinking about this further, the black ES logo was born with a hint of pink, referring to the fact that here, in a way unique in the market, the owner of the brewery is a lady. Then the names and visual appearance of each beer variety "came together" into a unified image.
